PT Matahari Opens New Modern Shopping Center In Kupang

Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara, Dec 29 (Antara) - Publicly traded retail company PT Matahari Putra Prima opened another shopping center after one opened earlier in this East Nusa Tenggara capital. The second Hypermart outlet was opened on Dec. 26 a day after the Christmas celebration. It is the 107 outlet of Hypermart built by the Lippo Group all over Indonesia, Director of Corporate Communications of PT Matahari Putra Prima Danny Kojongian said here last week. PT Matahari Putra PrimaIa operates three types of retail business - Hypermart, Foodmart, and Boston. "The plan was to open the second outlet before Christmas but goods were late in arrival," Danny said. He said the new outlet occupying a space at the Lippo Mall Kupang belonged to the sixth generation. The first Hypermart outlet at Jalan Frans Seda was the fifth generation. He said the company built nine new outlets in a number of cities in Indonesia , and in 2015, there would be 20 more new outlets and the same number would follow in each year to come. "Our target is to build Hypermart outlets in 100 cities. Now we already have outlets in 60 cities ," he said. Crowds of people visited the new outlet the day it was officially opened by city Mayor Jonas Salean, and on Sunday there were thousands of visitors . Some of them came only for sight seeing buying nothing. Lippo Plaza El Tari representative Roy Nicholas Mandey said the presence of the new Hypermart outlet added to the modernity of the city of Kupang as a dynamic and growing city. Lippo Plaza. El Tari also houses a Matahari Department store, and an entertainment center. Roy said Lippo Group comes not as a competitor for local retailers as it has different market segment.
