PT Semen Indonesia Targets 10 Pct Increase In Production

Gresik, East Java, Jan 8 (Antara)- PT Semen Indonesia has set a target to increase its production capacity by 10 percent to 31 million tons in 2014, stated the publicly listed cement company`s President Director Dwi Soetjipto here on Wednesday. He noted that up to the end of 2013, the company`s cement production reached 27.95 million tons from the 15 existing packing plants. "We will continue to increase the number of packing plants up to 30 by 2016 in order to support the increase of the company`s production capacity," Dwi noted. Besides, he added that the production capacity will also be supported by the existing 11 special sea ports and the network of 361 distributors in various regions across the country. Relating to the "strategic holding" of PT Semen Indonesia to enhance the competitiveness and to increase bargaining power, Dwi pointed out that it will provide added value to each region. "The regions need not worry about the strategic holding of Semen Indonesia because it will create a good synergy and foster the potentials of each region," he noted. Late in 2012, the publicly listed PT Semen Gresik had changed its name to PT Semen Indonesia to give an impetus to the company`s future growth. Dwi stated that the new name was expected to represent a wider umbrella for its subsidiaries whose headquarters are located in several regions such as Padang in West Sumatra, Gresik in East Java and Tonasa in South Sulawesi. "Regionalism perception being quite strong, a name change was required to support the corporate vision," he explained. According to him, the new name can directly benefit each region because it would stimulate regional development and reduce unemployment in the region.
