QAPCO, Education Above All Sign Partnership Agreement

Doha, October 01 (QNA) - Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO) and Education Above All Foundation (EAA) on Wednesday signed a partnership agreement, according to which QAPCO joins the international partners and donors who support EAA's educational programs worldwide including Educate A Child, Al Fakhoora and the Protecting Education in Insecurity and Conflict (PEIC) program. "We are proud to be resource partners for the Qatari-based organization Education Above All Foundation, and it is a pleasure to support its efforts to contribute to a future for children and youth by giving them access to an education. This is in line with QAPCO's Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives in Qatar and worldwide. As a responsible corporate citizen, we believe that contributing to society is part of our license to operate," QAPCO Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Mohammed Youssef Al Mulla said of the agreement that was signed in an event taking place at QAPCOs headquarters in Doha. In turn, EAA Director of Finance and Administration Fahad Al Sulaiti, said: "We are delighted to welcome QAPCO as resource partner, and we are grateful for the commitment which has been made. The support of Qatari organizations such as QAPCO are crucial to the success of EAAs mission to bring new life chances and real hope and opportunities to poor and marginalized children and youth around the world. In line with the Qatar National Vision 2030, EAA aims to contribute to human, social and economic development through quality education and other welfare programs and initiatives." Education Above All (EAA) is a global initiative founded in 2012 by HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser. It aims to build a global movement that contributes to human, social and economic development through quality education and other welfare programs and initiatives. With a particular focus on areas affected by poverty, conflict and disaster, EAA champions the needs of children and youth and empower them to be active members of their communities. By meeting the demand for education, EAA equips them to support sustainable development and to nurture environments of peace, security, justice and prosperity. EAA is the umbrella organization overseeing three core programs, EAC, Al Fakhoora and PEIC. QAPCO is a Qatar-based company established in 1974 and is a joint venture between Industries Qatar, which controls 80 percent of the company, and Total Petrochemicals, owner of the remaining 20 percent. As the pioneer of petrochemical production in Middle East, QAPCO is one of the largest producers of low density polyethylene (LDPE) in the region besides producing ethylene, sulphur and other petrochemical products. QAPCO is involved in a number of joint ventures that include QATOFIN, QVC, and QPPC, making QAPCO a regional petrochemical powerhouse. LDPE is considered as the most widely used type of plastic, offering innovative solutions and applications such as food packaging, agricultural films, toys, cables and playing a key role in the development of green building solutions.
