Qatar Airways Unveils Plan for Amsterdam

Amsterdam, May 26 (QNA) - Qatar Airways (QA) Tuesday unveiled the state carrier's vision for its new destination, Amsterdam, at an event held at the Intercontinental Amstel Hotel here. Speaking to a select group of guests and media, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker revealed details of the airline's imminent services to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. "Amsterdam is one of the busiest airports in Europe and one of the most popular tourism destinations in the world. We have been pursuing the opportunity to open this new route for some time and I am pleased to have achieved our ambition. We have high expectations for the new Amsterdam-Doha flight with many passengers already booked on our new flights," Al Baker told the audience. Passengers to and from Amsterdam will have the opportunity to enjoy Qatar Airways' exceptional service and the world's best Business and Economy Class service while travelling on our Boeing 787 offering them luxury and comfort. Furthermore the convenient connection times and seamless transit experience offered by our award-winning Hamad International Airport will make onward connectivity to our worldwide network a pleasure, he said. The Amsterdam-Doha route starts June 16 next month. QA will operate six times per week with a Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Flying non-stop, the total journey time between Doha and Amsterdam is six hours and 35 minutes. Flights will take off from Amsterdam mid-afternoon and arrive Doha late evening. The new passenger services will complement the carrier's existing freighter services to Amsterdam, boosting capacity by 10 per cent. Qatar Airways Cargo, the world's fifth largest cargo carrier, launched airfreight services to Schiphol Airport in 2003. The airline is celebrating 12 years of supporting the successful growth of Dutch and international businesses by operating B777 freighter services connecting Amsterdam with worldwide markets via Chicago as well as its Doha hub.
