Qatar to boost trade with Thailand

BANGKOK, July 5 (TNA) - Oil-rich Qatar is ready to help Thailand on energy issues and wants to boost trade and investment cooperation with the Thai Kingdom. Royal Thai Air Force Spokesman Air Marshal Monthon Satchukorn told journalists that Qatari Ambassador to Thailand Jabor Ali H.A. Al-Dosari informed Thai Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Prajin Junthong, who is also a deputy chief of the army-led National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) overseeing national economic affairs, of the Qatari stance at their meeting in Bangkok on Friday (Jul 4). Air Marshal Monthon, who is also an advisor to the NCPO deputy chief, quoted the Qatari ambassadoras saying that Qatar's government leaders also conveyed their appreciation to the NCPO in its attempts to build national peace for the Thai people and wanted to strengthen economic cooperation with the Thai Kingdom. The Qatari top envoy reportedly told the NCPO deputy chief that his Gulf state has an expertise in energy and also has several oil sources and it wants to see more trade and investment between the two countries. Besides, a number of Qatari people visit Thailand and take medical treatment in the Thai Kingdom. In response, the NCPO deputy chief thanked Qatar for understanding Thailand's political situation and briefed the ambassador on what the NCPO has done after it has seized national administrative power since May 22, 2014, aimed to achieve genuine democracy for Thailand. The NCPO deputy chief also invited more Qataris people to visit and to invest in Thailand. (TNA)
