Qatar Chamber to Participate in Islamic Chamber Meeting in Muscat

Doha, April 11 (QNA) - Qatar Chamber for Commerce and Industry (QCCI) is taking part on Wednesday in the 25th general assembly meeting of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (ICCIA) in Muscat. The meeting's agenda includes the nomination of a president, board members and financial committee for the new term of 2017-2021 as well as electing the vice president and secretary general and reviewing and approving the report of the meeting of the 58th session of ICCIA's financial committee and the financial contributions, including the outstanding sums that the chamber received from Jan. 1, 2017 until March 31. The agenda also includes the addition of exchange and services to the main activities of ICCIA and reviewing some studies prepared by the chamber, including one on the textile industry in the Islamic world. Meanwhile, Qatar Chamber will hold a high-level meeting on Thursday between importers of foodstuffs in the country and Hamad Port officials to discuss complaints the chamber received from some Qatari companies on the recent measures announced by Qatar Ports Management Company at Hamad Port that the companies consider as obstacles. The meeting will also discuss the increase in fees imposed on importers as well as other obstacles facing food importers in the country. The chamber said it received several letters from different companies complaining about difficulties at Hamad Port, so in return, the chamber got in touch with relevant state entities and received responsive feedback from the Ministry of Transport and Communications and the General Authority of Customs among others. Qatar Chamber extended invitations to all food-importing companies to participate in the meeting that will be attended by officials from relevant entities as well as some board members of Qatar Chamber.
