Qatar E-Commerce Forum Opens Tomorrow

Doha, October 18 (QNA) - Marketing experts from global e-commerce companies and more than ten Qatarian start-ups will share success stories and challenges at the Qatar E-Commerce Forum 2015 that opens at the Ritz-Carlton here Monday. Organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology, the Forum assembles businesses, policymakers, and e-commerce service providers to address e-commerce trends and developments in Qatar and the world. The forum features 27 speakers from Google, Uber, PayPal, Visa, PayFort, and other e-commerce companies. HE the Minister of Information and Communications Technology Dr Hessa Al Jaber will open the event with her remarks on 'Setting the Agenda for e-Commerce in Qatar'. Participants will mull the prospects of developing the potential of e-commerce business model, secure transaction, marketing opportunities and deliverables. Topics such as: 'How does Qatar achieve a regulatory environment conducive to e-commerce growth?' 'What business models will succeed in the region and how to fund them?' and 'What disruptive payments and logistics technologies will lead the way to improved delivery of service?' will discuss the way ahead for e-commerce in Qatar Attendees will learn more about Qatars National e-Commerce Roadmap, a blueprint for ensuring that Qatar can capitalize on its strengths as well as overcome the current challenges to growing its e-commerce market. One of the forum's panel discussion is titled 'Qatar-Based e-Commerce Startups: Prospects and Challenges. It will be fully dedicated for Qatarian entrepreneurs. Carnegie Melon University in Qatar Innovation Entrepreneurship Associate Professor Dr. Maher Hakim will moderate the discussion that will examine the challenges businesses face in scaling up and growing locally and regionally. Representatives from e-commerce companies will share their experiences, successes, challenges, and potential. Qatar released its e-Transactions and e-Commerce Law in 2010 for business usage of e-commerce. (QNA)
