Qatar Foreign Merchandise Trade Surplus QR 8.3 Billion in June

Doha, July 27 (QNA) - Foreign merchandise trade balance of the State of Qatar showed a surplus of QR 8.3 billion in June 2016, a decrease of about QR 6.6 billion or 44.4% compared to June 2015. And increased by nearly QR 0.8 billion or 10.6% compared to May 2016. The Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics released preliminary figures of the value of exports of domestic goods, re-exports, and imports for June 2016. In June 2016, the total exports of goods (including exports of goods of domestic origin and re-exports) amounted to around QR 17.4 billion, showing a decrease of 28.1% compared to June 2015. And increased by 2.4% compared to May 2016. On other hand, the imports of goods in June 2016 amounted to around QR 9.1 billion, showing decrease of 1.6% over June 2015. However, on a month on month (M-o-M) basis the imports decreased by 4.1%. The year on year (June 2016 to June 2015) decrease in total exports was mainly due to lower exports of Petroleum gases and other gaseous hydrocarbons (LNG, condensates, propane, butane, etc.) reaching 10.3 billion approximately in June 2016, a decrease of 29.3%, Petroleum oils and oils from bituminous minerals (crude) reaching QR 3.1 billion nearly, decreased by 22.0%, as well as the Petroleum oils and oils from bituminous minerals (not crude) reaching QR 1.0 billion, decreased by 29.2%. In June 2016, South Korea was at the top of the countries of destination of Qatars exports with close to QR 3.0 billion, a share of 17.3% of total exports, followed by Japan with almost QR 2.9 billion and a share of 16.8%, India with about QR 2.6 billion, a share of 14.8%. During June 2016, Motor cars and other passenger vehicles, was at the top of the imported group of commodities, with QR 0.6 billion, showing a decrease of 27.7% compared to June 2015. In second place was Turbojets, turbo propellers and other gas turbines; parts Thereof. with QR 0.4 billion, showing an increase by 497.0%, and in third place was Parts of aircraft and helicopters etc. with QR 0.3 billion, decreased of 69.7%. In June 2016, China was the leading country of origin of Qatars imports with about QR 1.3 billion, a share of 14.1% of the imports, followed by United State of America with QR 1.1 billion almost, a share of 12.6%, and Germany with QR 1.0 billion, a share of 10.5%.(QNA)
