Qatar, Thailand to expand economic cooperation

BANGKOK, May 19 (TNA) - Qatar and Thailand eye to expand bilateral economic cooperation, covering new investment projects in the Thai economy. The issue was raised at a meeting between His Royal Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, a member of the ruling Al Thani Qatari Royal Family, and Thai Transport Minister Air Chief Marshal Prachin Juntong in Bangkok on May 18. The Thai Ministry of Transport, thus, briefed the visiting Qatari royal delegate on its ongoing and future infrastructure plans in Thailand so that the Qatari side can use as first-handed information for making decision on investing in the Thai economy in the future. The Qatari side also asked for Thailand’s support and share in expertise to further develop agricultural and environmental programs in the Gulf state, including the Royal Rainmaking Initiative to alleviate drought. The Qatari royal delegate is scheduled to visit Prachuap Khiri Khan Province in the Upper Thai South on May 20 to learn on an artificial rainmaking process under Thailand's Royal Rainmaking Project, initiated by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
