Registrations for "Bike for Dad" in Bangkok set Nov 2-15

BANGKOK, October 27 (TNA) - Registrations for cyclists wishing to join the "Bike for Dad", an event organised for Thais nationwide and across the world to celebrate and show gratitude to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on His Majesty's 88th birthday this year, will be opened at all 50 district offices in Bangkok from November 2-15, 2015. Dr. Peerapong Saicheua, Permanent Secretary for the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), told journalists of the information on October 27, after chairing a meeting on the "Bike for Dad" event, which will be held simultaneously across Thailand and the world on December 11, 2015, about one week after His Majesty the King's 88th birthday on December 5. Dr. Peerapong said the 50 district offices in Bangkok would open for the registrations from 8am to 4pm on weekdays and from 9am to 12pm on weekends during the set period. According to the senior official, BMA has targeted that about 100,000 cyclists should participate in the activity, organised in Bangkok alone, with participants to each receive a royal wristband and a pin. The "Bike for Dad" event in Bangkok was set to start from the Royal Plaza near the Dusit Palace passing through Pratunam, Chulalongkorn Hospital, the Memorial Bridge, the Royal Thai Navy Auditorium, Siriraj Hospital, where His Majesty the King is staying for medical treatment, and back to the Royal Plaza, with a total distance of 29 kilometres. The senior official revealed that BMA will also organise a Thai classical dance drama, called Khon, and an exhibition on the beloved Thai monarch’s royal activities at the Royal Plaza during December 12-13, 2015.
