Rezaie: Resistance Economy Not Same As Austerity Economy

Isfahan, Sept 6, IRNA – Secretary of Iran’s Expediency Council Mohsen Rezaie said here Wednesday that the country’s newly adopted resistance economy is by no means the same as well known austerity economy. According to an IRNA reporter present at the opening ceremony of ‘The 3rd International Islamic Resistance Conference and Festival’ at Isfahan’s Abbasi Hotel, Rezaie who was giving a lecture at the meeting added that the resistance economy is an economic approach aimed at leading the country’s national economy out of the adventurist policies of the enemy. He said, “We do not want to resort to the austerity economic plans that the Europeans have been adopting that would impose greater economic pressure over the people, as on the contrary we are after providing greater economic ease for our people.” Referring to the guidelines provided by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution about the resistance economy, he said, “The formula of the implementing resistance economy is popularizing the country’s national economy, and in other words, making the people responsible for it.” The secretary of the country’s influential Expediency Council reiterated, “In the framework of this formula, the economic management of the country must be trusted in the hands of the people directly.” He pointing out that managing the economy is not more perilous than managing the war, adding, “Our people created epics during the years of the Sacred Defense (against the Iraqi invasion of Saddam’s armed forces) and great generals in the armed forces were emerged from amidst these people, who managed the war affairs, and today, too, these same people can govern and manage the country’s economy quite efficiently.” The secretary of the Expediency Council added, “The obstacles in the way of job creators and the creative minds must be eliminated and such people must be guided and managed.” He reiterated, “In that case we would be able to pass through this sensitive historical juncture, too, successfully and create another turning point in the region.” Rezaie added, “If we would manage to turn Iran into an advanced country from the heart of the imposed sanctions against this country then our system would be turned into a strong support for the Islamic awakening movement, and just as the nations have taken model of Iran in their resistance against oppression, they would in this case take model of us in their economic and business fields.” He reiterated, “Getting strong of our nation would be among the other achievements of implementing the resistance economy.” Rezaie noted that Iran is today at a historic turning point in the world and inside the country too, we must pass through this sensitive turning point. He added, “Therefore, on the one hand there is the national role and on the other hand the international role that we must play in implementing our resistance economy.” The Expediency Council secretary added, “Our culture and ideology provide sufficient insight for passing through this historical and sensitive turning point.” Rezaie referred to the global oppression front’s efforts aimed at imposing mounting pressure against the Iranian nation and government and creating dissatisfaction at nationwide level inside Iran, adding, “This economic encounter is a new one, but our capabilities, too, are now not few.” Pointing out that the resistance economy must be clear and easy to comprehend, he said, “Implementing this economy does not equal turning our economy into and underground economy.” The former IRGC commander reiterated, “By imposing economic pressure the enemy on the one hand is after putting the people in tough economic conditions and is on the other hand after turning our economy into an underground economy, but there is also a fourth way for successful passage through the imposed economic sanctions and that is the resistance economy.” He added, “For successful passage through the imposed sanctions by the enemy the economic management and the economic structures of the country need to be reformed.” The secretary of the Expediency Council of the system said, “In economic encounter with the enemy we need to inflict stakes against them from a way that they would not expect it. Reza’ie reiterated, “During the years of the Sacred Defense the enemy was aware of our capabilities, facilities, and power, but had no information about the establishment of our popular par militia farce side by side with our classical army and that was right where it suffered from the inflicted strikes.” He also referred the ongoing events in Syria, saying, “The Zionist enemy which had to exit from Egypt’s door is now trying to get in though the small gate of Syria.” Reza’ie added, “Today side by side with the Syrian classical army there is a 50 thousand strong militia force of the Syrian people that has been established and has already forced the enemy to retreat not only from the capital city, Damascus, but also out of Aleppo.” He reiterated, “We need to deliver sever blows against the enemy through unidentified ways and beyond doubt in third encounter the US defeat would be greater than it was during the war period.” The two-day 3rd International Islamic Resistance Conference and Festival was opened in Isfahan on Wednesday. At this conference-festival which is aimed at surveying the ways for developing the resistance movement and blocking the path for its deviation, representatives from 50 countries around the globe, including Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Tunisia, Bahrain, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, Russia, and high ranking Iranian officials are present.
