RI Proposes Connectivity Building in Asia Pacific

Nusa Dua, Bali province, Oct 3 (Antara) - Indonesia, as the host for APEC meetings, has proposed the Framework on Connectivity in Asia Pacific to increase economic competitiveness of member economies and boost trade and flow of goods and services in the region. According to a document from Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry received here on Thursday, the framework will contain commitment from leaders of the 21 member economies of APEC to strengthen and boost physical, institutional, and people`s connectivity in the Asia-Pacific region by 2030. On physical connectivity, Indonesia has proposed an integration of logistics, transportation, energy, and telecommunication sectors among APEC member economies. On institutional connectivity, Indonesia is keen to increase harmonisation of institutions and mechanisms in the region, while on people`s connectivity, Indonesia has proposed more activities involving the people in the region. "More connectivity means advanced economic integration, better development quality, and strengthening of the region`s economic resilience," according to the document.
