Ringgit Opens Easier Against US Dollar

KUALA LUMPUR, July 30 (Bernama) -- The ringgit began the week easier against the rejuvenated US dollar in early trading Wednesday, a currency trader said. Against the greenback, the local currency opened softer at 3.1780/1810 compared with 3.1730/1760 at the close on Friday. There was no interbank activity here in the past two days as the market was closed for the Aidilfitri (Eid ul-Fitr) holiday. The ringgit was lower against other major currencies except the yen. It fell against the Singapore dollar to 2.5577/5604 from Friday's 2.5560/5586 but appreciated against the yen to 3.1120/1156 from 3.1126/1168. The local unit eased against the British pound to 5.3861/3921 from Friday's 5.3836/3894 and slipped against the Euro to 4.2623/2670 from 4.2661/2711 previously. --BERNAMA
