Rosoboronexport to supply five Tor-M2K air defense systems to Belarus in 2016

ZHUKOVSKY /Moscow Region/, August 25. /TASS/. Rosoboronexport on Tuesday signed a contract to supply to Belarus five Tor-M2K air defense systems in 2016, the Russian arms exporter said. "At the MAKS-2015 international aviation and space show, Rosoboronexport signed a contract with the Belarusian Defense Ministry to supply five military vehicles from among the Tor-M2K air defense systems," the company said. "Supplies are scheduled for 2016," it said. The special exporter company head, Anatoly Isaykin, said "the supply of these state-of-the-art systems will considerably boost possibilities of the air defense system of the Republic of Belarus and the Union State [of Russia and Belarus] on the whole." The MAKS-2015 air show is underway in the town of Zhukovsky in the Moscow Region on August 25-30. As reported earlier, it involves more than 600 Russian organizations and over 150 foreign companies. Tor-M2K is a short-range surface-to-air missile launcher, whose combat vehicle is made on the basis of wheeled chassis produced by the Minsk plant of wheeled motor traction vehicles. According to open sources, it can hit targets at distances up to 15 kilometers and altitudes up to 10 kilometers, simultaneously shooting at four targets. Read more
