Rupiah Weakened 30 Points On Monday

Jakarta, April 22 (Antara) - The rupiah currency weakened 30 points to US dollar in the early week, after strengthened seven points last week. The weak movement of rupiah was shown by early currency inter-banks` transaction on Monday in Jakarta, that has moved to Rp9,775 from Rp9,745 per US dollar. "Some analysts said that US economy still can grow, even though, half of its economic indicators were shown slow down. Hence, this expectation has pushed the US dollar to remain stronger," said Ruly Nova, a money market observer from Bank Himpunan Saudara. Nevertheless, Nova noted the domestic currency will strengthen again as the Indonesian basic economy remains positive with 6.2 percent to 6.5 percent of growth prediction. Besides, he added the central bank of Indonesia, Bank Indonesia (BI), will give effort to stabilize the fluctuation of the domestic exchange rate. Regarding the Indonesian Government`s plan to raise the subsidized oil fuel price would be helping to cut off the domestic trade balance deficit. Meanwhile, Samuel Sekuritas`s Economist Lana Soelistianingsih has projected that rupiah had a potential to move stronger ahead of the Government Bonds (SUN) auction. "The Government Bonds auction plan was usually responded by the strengthen rupiah," he said.
