MOSCOW, May 24. /TASS/. Russia plans to develop bilateral cooperation with Brunei through expanding trade and economic relations, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated on the outcomes of the talks with Brunei’s Second Minister of Foreign Affairs Erywan Yusof. "We give top priority to the expansion of trade, economic and investment relations between Russia and Brunei," he said. "We noted that despite modest levels of mutual trade, there are good opportunities for additional efforts in the sphere of energy, agriculture and delivery of medical equipment." "We have come to a shared conclusion that in order to take advantage of these opportunities, we have to facilitate direct contacts between Russian and Bruneian business circles," the minister added. Lavrov also noted that in the past several years, three Russian business missions have visited Brunei in order to discuss various projects. "I think that the opportunities for the growth of our trade-economic relations will increase substantially on the outcomes of the talks on signing a memorandum of cooperation between Brunei and the Eurasian Economic Union, which are currently underway," the Russian diplomat stressed.
