Russia and China discuss decreasing fall in trade turnover and reversing it - Deputy Prime Minister Rogozin

IRKUTSK, July 6. /TASS/. Russia and China discussed measures that could stop a 30% decrease in the trade turnover and allow returning it back to growth path, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin told TASS Monday. "We have discussed the issue that really bothers us. The trade turnover fell by almost 30% because, due to internal and external factors, Russian consumers of Chinese goods stopped buying them," Rogozin said. According to him, this figure is the result of an acute decrease in import from China and fluctuations of the ruble exchange rate. On the other hand, the Chinese have their own problems - the economic growth slowdown. "Today [July 6 - TASS] together with Wang Yang [Vice Premier of the Chinese State Council - TASS] we discussed the list of urgent measures that we have to take in order to return to former figures," Rogozin said. According to him, this refers to developing the most complex intergovernmental agreements, which will regulate the issue of maintaining Russia’s intellectual property for the most high-technology production that could be sold in China, and other measures. "The list of [mutual - TASS] strategic projects has expanded, but we stand on the brink of their implementation. It is important to shorten that road. We need to make money. We need it now in order for our economic systems to recover after such a fall," Rogozin said, noting that he was talking about joint projects on creating a wide-body long-range aircraft, a heavy helicopter, projects in space cooperation and in ground infrastructure.
