Russia, Cuba agree to set up joint venture assembling trucks

MOSCOW, November 8. /TASS/. For increasing economic collaboration, Russia and Cuba will set up a joint venture, together with the KAMAZ truck maker, to fix and assemble trucks, the Russian Industry and Trade Ministry’s press service has said. "Cooperation between the two countries can be boosted by setting up a joint venture to fix and assemble trucks with the aim to create a service centre within the [Cuban] Mariel special economic area," the press service said. Following sessions of the Russian-Cuban working groups on creating a transport hub in Cuba, Russian Deputy Industry and Trade Minister Georgy Kalamanov has said that over the year 2015 collaboration between the two countries has been demonstrating one of the most impressive results. An agreement to establish a special working group monitoring a modernisation project and increasing the output of steel and rolled steel at the Antillana de Acero metallurgical plant was reached. Since Monday, the 33rd FIHAV 2015 Havana International Fair has been under way playing host to representatives from 900 enterprises, in particular from 26 U.S. companies. Read more
