Russia establishes aviation industry cluster in Siberia

NOVOSIBIRSK, February 20. /TASS/. Russia is establishing an aviation industry cluster in Siberia under an agreement signed by the Novosibirsk Region government, the United Aircraft Building Corporation, the Sukhoi aircraft manufacturer and the regional Akadempark innovation center. The advanced cluster will develop and produce spare parts for the aviation industry. Residents of the technological park will start supplying components for the Novosibirsk aviation enterprise by 2017-2018, the Akadempark press office said. The project will require $16 million for initial production. "It is very advantageous to assign the solution of technical problems in the development and production of aviation components to small business. However, there are bureaucratic problems in the process, which we hope to resolve jointly within the agreement," Akadempark Head Dmitry Verkhovoda said. The document stipulates the intention of the parties to cooperate in personnel training, the development of entrepreneurship and engineering. Read more
