Russia small innovative companies should attract investors freely

HELSINKI, November 18. /TASS/. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich noted that a difficult situation in the world will not affect capabilities of just-launched Russian technological companies to attract investments and to find investors. He is participating in an annual technological conference Slush which opened in the Finnish capital on Tuesday. “As for major companies, this [attraction of investors] is really more difficult for them to do so. As for business beginners, new small companies, there are neither psychological nor political obstacles for them, so, people do not pay attention to such things,” Dvorkovich said. Russians are participating in a conference, particularly seeking to acquire experience in different spheres from talks with investors to organisational issues, he said. “It seems to me that each year we have an opportunity to show those new developments which had been made since the moment Skolkovo [Russian innovative centre in the Moscow region since 2010] was founded. Since then a really good experience was acquired, there are already successful projects, there are those who are at the stage of growth and need investors, there are those who want to expand their potential. All depends from them, whether they will be able to present themselves correctly and to show themselves. Success will depend on persistency, intellect and capacities. Let’s wait and see who could have drawn attention of European and other investors according to results,” Dvorkovich noted. “Meanwhile, the very technique of work with investors, technique of talks and the fact that we succeed to assemble different participants of innovative market, including businesspeople, financiers, researchers, young people who just begin their activity are primarily interesting for them. We began to do so within Startup Village project, but we are just at the beginning of the path and Slush has already been operating for several years. Therefore, certainly we are interested in this experience, we will use it,” the deputy prime minister said. Read more
