Russia, Turkey may step up trade turnover to $100bn by 2023 - Erdogan

MOSCOW, September 23. /TASS/. Russia and Turkey may raise their trade turnover to $100 billion in the period up to 2023, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said during a meeting with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Wednesday. "Over the recent decade, relations between Russia and Turkey have reached a very good level," Erdogan said. "In spite of the downgrade effect of some international factors on bilateral trade turnover, the two countries have certain prospects for growth in mutual trade." "Our goal is to reach the level of $100 billion. The goal is expected to be achieved before 2023," the Turkish leader said recalling that in the first six months of 2015 the trade amounted to $11bln, while in 2014 it climbed to $31bln. Along with this, speaking about the opening ceremony of Moscow’s Grand Mosque, Erdogan said Russia’s capital received a magnificent monument in its centre. "It is of top importance as various events may be held there," Turkey’s president said noting that the complex incorporates all the needed facilities.
