Russia is working on involvement of other countries in development of Arctic resources - Putin

ARCHANGELSK, March 30. /TASS/. Russia is interested in bring resources of non-Arctic countries into development of the Arctic region and work has already started, President Vladimir Putn said on Thursday at the plenary session of the International Arctic Forum. "We are not going to put obstacles to work of non-regional countries on Arctic development. On the contrary, we are interested in involving their resources and capabilities for development of this region," Putin said. "Certainly, under principles of compliance with standards and rules supporting environmental safety, safety of bioresources, and support of interests of indigenous peoples living on these territories," Putin said. Putin added, that "this is all we can and will agree upon." "The work is underway already," the Russian leader said. Russia considers that all countries of the world have the right to work in the Arctic region, Putin reiterated. The question is only how to organize this work and agree on it, he said. Read more
