MOSCOW, January 18. /TASS/. Russian Helicopters count on supplying Iran with military helicopters after the lifting of sanctions, Rostec press service told TASS Monday citing an official representative of Russian Helicopters. The company is a part of Rostec. "The lifting of sanctions presents an opportunity to supply the Iranian side with new military helicopters and servicing," the company said. "The positions of the company in the market of the Middle East are traditionally strong. Currently there are more than 500 military and civilian helicopters of Soviet and Russian production. The helicopters of the legendary Mi-8/17 series compose the main part of the fleet, globally known for their versatility and high performance characteristics. Iran has more than 50 Mi-8/17 aircraft. We plan to strengthen business relations with partners in the Middle East and to develop cooperation in the supply of modern helicopters, its after-sales service and upgrade," Russian Helicopters CEO Alexander Mikheev said. As was reported earlier, in 2015 the representatives of Helicopters of Russia (part of Rostec) and the representatives of the Iranian government agencies and companies discussed the prospects of deliveries of Mil Mi-171, Mil Mi-171E, Kamov Ka-32A11BC and Kamov Ka-226T.
