Russian Railways are discussing opportunity to participate in high speed railway project in India - CEO

ST. PETERSBURG, June 17. /TASS/. Russian Railways are discussing an opportunity of taking part in implementation of a high speed railway project in India, CEO of Russian Railways Vladimir Yakunin told TASS. "We are holding negotiations with Indian counterparts on implementation of infrastructural projects in India. In particular, these involve the setup of the high speed traffic system," Yakunin said. TASS reported earlier Russian Railways and Indian Railways would set up a working group to identify promising projects for bilateral cooperation, First Vice President of the Russian Railways Alexander Misharin said during the visit to New Delhi on March 18. According to Misharin, Russian companies are interested in cooperating with India in three areas: establishment of a freight transport corridor, increase of speed and throughput capacity, and railway safety improvement. Russian Railways also want to take part in the tender for railways electrification and already "requested its conditions," the senior manager said. Read more
