S. Africa Seeks Iran Investment: Official

Tehran, June 17, IRNA – A senior official said here on Tuesday that an economic delegation from South Africa has voiced willingness to make investment in Iran. Head of foreign economic relations department of the Organization for Iran Investment, Economic and Technical Assistance Sadeq Akbari said Tehran fully supports foreign investments. He also emphasized the necessity of preparing the ground for better utilization of the potentials between the two countries. Akbari also called for increasing trade transactions between Iran and South Africa. Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has recently announced that South Africa has made investments in the Iranian mining, industrial and trade sectors, an example of which is the establishment of MTN Irancell, the second largest mobile phone network operator of Iran. He added that they have also invested in the 8th and 9th olefin projects in the South Pars Gas Field in Bushehr province. ˈIranian companies, on the other hand, are involved in implementing housing projects in South Africa,ˈ he said./end
