Salehi Calls For Bangladesh Contribution To North-South Corridor Project

Tehran, Aug 26, IRNA – Iran's Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi on Saturday called on Bangladesh to contribute to project for expansion of North-South corridor. In a meeting with Bangladesh Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs Mijaro al-Gaith, Salehi raised the issue of transit of Bangladeshi goods to and from Iranian territory to regional states. He said Iran is ready for economic cooperation with Bangladesh. The Bangladeshi official for his part welcomed further expansion of cooperation. Both sides agreed to hold the 5th Iran-Bangladesh Joint Economic Commission next Spring. Meanwhile, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for the Asia-Pacific Affairs, Abbass Araghchi, and the Bangladeshi official signed a memorandum of understanding for regular political consultations./end
