Salehi: Iran-Turkey Economic Commission To Lift Trade Barriers

Ankara, Jan 19, IRNA – Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi says the 23rd Iran-Turkey Joint Economic Commission session aimed to lift all trade barriers. Salehi, talking to reporters upon arrival in Ankara, said volume of mutual transactions reached USD 15 billion last year from USD five billion previously and it is expected to rise to USD 30 billion in the next three years. He said the Commission will in next two days discuss variety of subjects relating to transportation, trade, energy and tourism. He added that the Iran-Turkey borders will be re-opened in to raise volume of mutual transactions as the two sides are trying to remove problems facing road transportation sector. On his meetings with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu in the past one year, Salehi said he has met him 11 times, which has had positive effects on regional stability and security. As two countries share many commonalities, Iran and Turkey have not had any border confrontation over the past 400 years./end
