Sales of Thailand’s OTOP over Bt2.3 bln during first half of 2015

BANGKOK, July 5 (TNA) - Sales of One Tambon One Product (OTOP) during the first half of 2015 exceeded 2.3 billion baht, said Thailand’s Interior Minister Gen. Anupong Paochinda. The overall picture of OTOP performances during the period was satisfactory, said Gen. Anupong, adding that marketing of OTOP has been switching to offensive strategy since late last year. Promotional campaigns are held regularly both inside and outside the country while sale fairs have been held six times since last year up till now, he said. Gen. Anupong said his ministry wanted to open the oversea market wider so that OTOP operators could earn more income and their communities become stronger. OTOP is a local entrepreneurship stimulus programme designed by former government of prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra. The programme is aimed at supporting locally made and marketed products of each sub-district in Thailand. (TNA)
