Samsung's Galaxy Note 9 tops European consumer ratings

SEOUL, Sept. 21 (Yonhap) -- Samsung Electronics Co.'s latest flagship Galaxy Note 9 smartphone has topped six European consumer ratings thanks to its overall competitive edge, industry sources said Friday. The Galaxy Note 9 phablet, which was rolled out in early August and is equipped with a new stylus and the best battery and storage among all of its premium devices, has won the No. 1 rating from major consumer magazines in Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Belgium, according to the sources. Samsung's flagship device has been recognized for its long battery life, a superb camera function, the availability of its S-pen and other top-notch features. Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, which Samsung unveiled during the first half of this year, were also ranked among the top five devices. In particular, Samsung's Galaxy Note 9 and Galaxy S9 and S8 series made the top five ratings from Portugal's Deco Proteste and Consumentenbond of the Netherlands. The Galaxy smartphones ranked among the top four in ratings by Italy's Atroconsumo, Belgium's Test Aankoop and Spain's OCU. Atroconsumo and Test Aankoop ranked Apple's iPhone 8 fifth and Huawei's P20 Pro placed fifth in OCU ratings. The Galaxy Note 9 and the Galaxy S9 series clinched the top three spots in ratings by Germany's Stiftung Warentest, with the Huawei device placing fourth and LG Electronics Inc.'s G7 ThinQ coming next.
