Science, Technology And Innovation Driver Of Malaysia's New Economy - Minister Madius

KUALA LUMPUR, May 16 (Bernama) -- Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) is the driver of Malaysia's new economy and the nation's competitiveness will very much rely on how ideation is translated into reality, said Malaysian Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Madius Tangau. He said a strong leadership as shown by the Prime Minister Najib Razak through the formation of the National Science Council and participation in the Global Science and Innovation Advisory Council (GSIAC) 6th Annual Meeting 2016 in London will lead to clearer directions from both national and international perspectives in terms of advancing STI in Malaysia. Madius said he felt privileged to be able to accompany Prime Minister for the four-day working visit to Britain beginning on Saturday. "It is indeed an honour and privilege to attend the Global Science and Innovation Advisory Council (GSIAC) 6th Annual Meeting 2016. "The meeting's main theme is 'Enhancing Malaysia's Competitiveness and Sustainable Development Through A Science–Driven Agenda', with two key segments, 'Fostering Malaysia’s Future: New Industry, New Jobs' and 'Challenges of Sustainable Development: Job Creation and Wealth Generation," he said in a statement, here, Sunday. He said the ministry has taken the right step to move forward and the decision taken by the Prime Minister to develop a National STI Masterplan and STEM Action Plan at the recent National Science Council (NSC) should be applauded. --BERNAMA
