Selangor International Expo 2016 To Highlight Halal, E-Commerce, Life Science Sectors

SHAH ALAM (Selangor, Malaysia), Oct 13 (Bernama) -- Selangor is banking on the halal, e-commerce and life science industries to attract more investors to the state during the second Selangor International Expo next week. State Investment, Industry and Trade, Small and Medium Enterprises and Transportation Committee Chairman Teng Chang Khim said the expo would focus on the small and medium enterprise segment which has a huge untapped potential both in domestic and international markets. "I call on all entrepreneurs from these three industries to take this opportunity to expand their businesses through the expo. "We will continue to create a conducive and investors-friendly environment by establishing new business networks, services and incentives, as well as promoting Selangor to the world as 'the Malaysian Golden State'," he told reporters after launching the expo's seven-day countdown here Thursday. Organised by Invest Selangor, the expo will be held at the Mines International Exhibition and Convention Centre, Seri Kembangan from Oct 20-22. Teng said the expo would also serve as a platform for local and international companies to establish ties, as well as expand their business scope. He said by organising the expo for the second time, it proved the state government's commitment towards investors, as well as local and international business communities, in helping to assail their businesses to greater heights. "Last year's edition recorded 400 exhibitors, of which 282 were international exhibitors. "This year, we are expecting an even bigger number of exhibitors and to date almost 600 companies, including from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, Iran and European countries, have confirmed their participation," said Teng. The expo will also feature local celebrities-cum-successful entrepreneurs such as Rosyam Noor, Siti Nurhaliza and D'Herbs Holdings (M) Sdn Bhd founder Aliff Syukri, who will share their success stories with seminar participants on the last day of the event. -- BERNAMA
