Sergei Lavrov to take part in presentation of Tatarstan economic, investment potential

MOSCOW, November 27. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will take part in the presentation of Tatarstan’s economic potential on Thursday. “The purpose of the presentation is to demonstrate the participants with the economic potential, the investment policy and external economic relations of the Republic of Tatarstan and the republic leaders’ plans to intensify inter-regional cooperation. Innovation projects will be presented. Business circles or structures of foreign states could take part in these projects,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said. Tatarstan is implementing several promising projects in petro-chemistry, car manufacturing and the construction. The Alabuga special economic zone, which was opened in November 2007, plays an important role. About 40 residents from Germany, Denmark, Italy, Russia, the USA, Turkey, France, South Korea and Japan have set up or are building their enterprises. Earlier, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said, “An investment climate has been created for residents here, including in the form of tax concessions and customs preferences, as well as in the form of window shop principle.” The Tatarstan delegation is expected to inform the participants in the presentation about two priority projects - the Innopolis innovation project and the Smart City Kazan project. This year Tatarstan has held presentations in Canada, Japan, North Korea, the UAE and China. Recently Minnikhanov has visited India to take part in the India-Tatarstan first business forum. The parties agreed to create working groups for determining projects of cooperation. In November the Tatarstan delegation led by Minnikhanov visited Latin America. Tatarstan and Cuba signed a package of documents on cooperation in education, trade and tourism. During the trip to Bogota, an agreement on cooperation was signed between the Colombian-Russian Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tatarstan.
