Sino-Russian relations particularly relevant amid current geopolitical environment, says minister

BEIJING, November 29. /TASS/. Energy, financial and technological cooperation between Moscow and Beijing is becoming particularly relevant amid the current questionable and difficult to predict geopolitical situation in the world, Russia’s Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Dmitry Kobylkin said on Thursday. "Further development of business relations between the countries is becoming increasingly relevant amid the current geopolitical environment. We are able to combine the advantages of Russia and China in the energy, financial and technological areas," he said at the 1st Russian-Chinese Energy Forum in Beijing. According to Kobylkin, joint projects on exploration of Arctic offshore areas should be considered one of top priorities of cooperation between the two countries. "For example, Rosneft's license blocks lie in the Arctic sections of the Laptev Sea, Chukchi and East Siberian Seas. Joint implementation of projects on exploration of the above-mentioned resources can trigger integration processes in our countries’ economies," the minister emphasized. He added that joint gas chemical projects are also as promising as gas production projects. "Using LNG as fuel for ships, cars, railway transport can become a new field that will obviously require collaboration," Kobylkin said. "Apart from those areas that have already become traditional, great opportunities have emerged in such fields as further development of transport infrastructure and formation of an oil and gas trade hub in the Asian-Pacific Region," he added.
