Six airlines in Turkey influential in world aviation sector

ISTANBUL (A.A) - December 13, 2011 - Six airlines operating in Turkey have an influential place in the world aviation sector with their fleet including 317 aircraft and number of seats amounting to 61,459. According to data by airlines collected by AA reporter, Turkish national flag carrier airline - Turkish Airlines, which is the largest one in Turkey, has 34,030 seats and a fleet of 179 aircraft. On Monday, two B737-900ER passenger aircraft joined Turkish Airlines (THY) fleet, raising the number of THY aircraft to 179. Meanwhile Turkey's national air carrier has carried 30 million passengers in the first 11 months of 2011. Pegasus Airlines, the second largest airlines in Turkey, have 7,122 seats. Onur Air, which entered the Turkish aviation market in 1992, has a fleet of 33 aircraft.  SunExpress Airlines has 5,292 seats and fleet of 28 planes. The youngest airlines, Anadolujet serves in the sector with its 3,596 seats and 22 aircraft.
