"Sleep boxes" available at Bangkok's Don Mueang Airport

BANGKOK, March 11 ( TNA) - Bangkok's Don Mueang Airport now provides "sleeep boxes", five first with their covering areas of 15 square meters each, for international travellers on the fourth floor of Terminal 2, before such the "sleeep boxes" service will be expanded to other Thai airports in the future. Don Mueang Airport General Manager Phet Chan-charoen told journalists on March 10 that each "sleeep box" has facilities, including a toilet, a shower room and a wi-fi service. Phet said Bangkok's Miracle Hotel has obtained a concession to develop and run a total of 25 sleep boxes, set to be completed by early next month, to serve international travellers who wait for their planes, or whose flights are delayed or who need a private area. According to the Don Mueang Airport's top management, the service rate for each of the "sleep boxes" is 1,800 baht per night (from 9pm to 6am), including a 200-baht food coupon usable at any restaurant at the airport. Besides, those who want to stay shorter will be charged 1,000 baht for at least a three-hour stay plus 200 baht per each following hour and those who want only to take a bath will pay 300 baht. The Don Mueang Airport's top management noted that the offered rates are cheaper than those in Japan and India. The Don Mueang Airport's top executive foresaw that Don Mueang Airport should serve up to 30 million international passengers this year, 70 per cent of whom would travel on domestic flights. (TNA)
