"Smart Aging" fair held in Bangkok

BANGKOK, July 18 (TNA) - Thailand's Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion (OSMEP) and National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) have jointly organized the Technology Investment Conference 2019: Smart Aging in Bangkok to be a potential platform towards the expanding market of commercial innovations for the elderly in the country. OSMEP Director-General Suwanchai Lohawattanakul told journalists that the one-day event, which was held in Bangkok on Thursday, provided a good opportunity for over 200 international participants, including Thai and foreign business operators running startups and even more established firms to create their business networks and build up their connection with financial institutes to support their businesses on the development of smart aging innovative products for elderly consumers. Besides, the participants have shared their experiences and learned on potential approaches for their expanding investment in the production of smart aging products for the elderly from specialized international guest speakers. According to the OSMEP chief, Thailand will enter a complete aging society in 2021 and the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC) has estimated that the number of the elderly in the Thai Kingdom, aged 60 years upwards, should reach about 20 million within the next two decades and business operators' sound awareness and preparations for serving the growing domestic aging market through their production of smart aging products are, thus, seen necessary now.
