SOFTEC Asia The Ideal Platform For Malaysia's Software Testing Segment

KUALA LUMPUR, April 2 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Software Testing Board's (MSTB) annual Software Testing Conference (SOFTEC) Asia is an ideal regional platform to further strengthen Malaysia's position in the global software testing market while encouraging collaboration and cooperation amongst industry stakeholders. Entering its eigth edition this year, this conference is also an avenue to raise the standards in software quality assurance (SQA) and promote software testing as a viable business, MSTB President Mastura Abu Samah said in a statement here Thursday. According to an independent report by Technavio, a technology research and advisory company, the global software testing services market was valued at US$41.84 billion in 2013 and is expected to reach US$70.98 billion by 2018, growing with a compounded annual growth rate of 11.15 per cent. Mastura said the potential for the software testing industry to contribute further to Malaysia’s economy is immense. "The same Technavio report also stated that Malaysia is rapidly emerging as one of the most favoured outsourcing destinations for global companies in the realm of software testing. This is testament to the efforts under the MSTH programme," she added. MSTH is an economic development initiative under the purview of the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) of the Prime Minister's Department. SOFTEC Asia 2015 will take place at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Kuala Lumpur from Sept 8 to 10, 2015. Leading up the SOFTEC Asia 2015, MSTB is also holding the second edition of the Software Test Design Competition. Since its introduction in 2008, SOFTEC has grown to become the premier English-medium software testing event in the region.
