South Pars gas output hits record high

TEHRAN, Dec. 13 (MNA) – Given the increased recovery from South Pars Phases 18 and 19, daily production at the joint gas field reached a new record of 465 million cubic meters. Presently, the production capacity for rich gas has reached about 470 million cubic meters in the upstream sector of South Pars while the figure for sweet gas in refinery complexes of the joint field stands at 465 million cubic meters per day. Masoud Hassani, Managing Director of South Pars Gas Complex, pointed to a new record in gas production at South Pars refineries saying “in the past 24 hours, approximately 465 million cubic meters of gas were sweetened in the onshore refineries of South Pars field.” In time with the rise in sweet gas output, the production volume for rich gas at Phase 19 of the shared gas field with Qatar also hit around 42 million cubic meters per day. Operator of South Pars Phase 19 Hamidreza Masoudi, while pointing to operation of Platform 19B and daily recovery of about 42 million cubic meters from the South Pars phase, said, in addition to three offshore platforms, three rows of gas sweetening processors have been installed in the coastal refinery of the phase.” The official stressed that of the total 42 million meter cubic meters of rich gas, about 37 million cubic meters are treated and injected to the sixth national pipeline; “since early in its operation, South Pars Phase has yielded approximately 254 million cubic meters of gas and five million barrels of gas condensate.” Additionally, National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) has announced on an upsurge in gas production at Phases 17 and 18 to as much as 43 million cubic meters; “gas production as platform of Phase 18 has begun and the output is being transferred to the coastal refinery for sweetening processes.” Managing Director of the Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) Mohammad Meshkinfam has also underlined that gas recovery at South Pars will rise by 515 million cubic meters within the next 10 days; “POGC is now supplying 62 per cent of the country’s gas demand.” The official, while referring to full operation of platforms 21 and 18B within weeks reiterated that the aggregate gas production at South Pars will reach more than 540 million cubic meters per day once platforms of Phases 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21 come to streams.
