Speaker Calls For Enhanced Tehran-Seoul Trade

Tehran, Nov 20, IRNA – Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani on Tuesday called for removal of impediments to expansion of Iran-South Korea trade. Larijani told Hyun-Jun, the head of the International and Trade Committee of South Korean National Assembly, that as two important countries of Asia, Iran and South Korea enjoy abundant opportunities for expansion of relations in the political, economic and industrial areas. He said Majlis will take any initiative possible to consolidate Tehran-Seoul relations. “The Islamic Republic of Iran has always been supporting the policy of calm and peace in the Korean peninsula,” he added. Larijani said that South Korea is major trade partner of Iran, calling for removal of obstacles in the way of trade and commercial ties. Hyun-Jun acknowledged the rich background of Iran-South Korea trade relations and said that the South Korean government and nation emphasize expansion of ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran. The South Korean parliamentarian said that dialogue between senior Iranian and South Korea officials would serve as an opportunity for removal of impediments to mutual trade.
