Spider cards available on June 22

BANGKOK, June 13 (TNA) – The Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) will distribute 200,000 the Mang Moom or Spider cards for MRT train passengers this month in the first phase of the introduction of the single card system for mass transit transport. Mangmoom card is a single electronic card that will be able to use for all mass transit in the future. MRTA governor, Pakapong Sirikantaramas said the cards will be released on June 22. In the first phase, the Mangmoom ticket system will be compatible with MRT subway’s Blue Line from Hua Lamphong to Bang Sue and Purple Line from Tao Poon to Klong Bang Phai. The single card system will cover other modes of transport, linking Airport Rail Link and public bus service or the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) in Oct. Regarding welfare cardholders, they will be able to use their cards for the two MRT routes from July 20 onwards. The Bangkok Expressway and Metro (BEM) announced that they have to register their cards at MRT stations from July 6-Sept 30. (TNA)
