Sri Lankan Minister Discusses Cooperation with Qatar Chamber

Doha, November 22 (QNA) - Sri Lanka Minister of Water Supply and Drainage Rauff Hakeem held talks today with officials in Qatar Chamber (QC) on improving business ties between the two countries. In a statement released in QC, the minister expressed his hope that the meeting will result in joint projects that will increase bilateral trade, particularly in water desalination, electricity, tourism, real estate, food security and agriculture. The minister said that his country is full of investment opportunity and is looking to attract more investments by creating a pro-business environment for commercial, infra-structure, real estate and tourism projects. He added that the Sri Lankan were keen on attracting more visitors from Qatar and the Gulf to visit tourist attractions in the country. He also said that Sri Lanka is keen on Qatar using the Sri Lankan human cadres, particularly in fields such as engineering and medicine. He highlighted that the number of workers in Sri Lanka exceeded 140,000. (QNA)
