Talks on creating free trade zone between Customs Union, Vietnam enter final stage - Putin

SOCHI, November 25. /TASS/. Russia and Vietnam are holding talks on creating a free trade zone between the Customs Union countries and Vietnam, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday. There is progress at the talks, Putin said after talks with the General Secretary of the Vietnamese Communist Party. “The talks are entering the final stage,” he said. The creation of the free trade zone will facilitate further strengthening of cooperation, Putin said. Nguyen Phu Trong said the agreement on the free trade zone agreement should be ready by early 2015. “The ministries and agencies of our countries should join efforts to carry out the task to increase trade turnover between Vietnam and the Russian Federation to $10 billion by 2020, to complete talks and prepare the agreement on the free trade zone between Vietnam and the Customs Union, which includes the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan and the Republic of Belarus, in the beginning of next year,” Nguyen Phu Trong said. He said the talks were held in a traditional friendly atmosphere. Putin and Nguyen Phu Trong exchanged views on many regional issues of mutual interest. They decided to create a mechanism of high-level political dialogue.
