Telkomsel Builds 34 Units Of BTS In Bali-Nusa Tenggara

Mataram, W Nusa Tenggara, July 23 (Antara) - Publicly traded cellular phone operator PT Telkomsel has built 34 new units of base transceiver station (BTS) in Bali and Nusa Tenggara so far this year to improve the quality of telecommunications networks in the region. Operation general manager of the regional branch of the subsidiary of the state telecommunications company PT Telkom Danny A. Triawan said 28 of the new BTS units use the 3G technology (Node B). "What we have done is to provide high quality service with adequate capacity especially in facing the Idul Fitri celebrations," Danny said here on Tuesday. The 34 units are built in a number of areas including 17 units in Bali, 2 units in West Nusa Tenggara and 15 units in East Nusa Tenggara . Apart from building new BTS units, the country`s largest cellular phone operator has modernized almost all of its old units of BTS with capacity doubled to improve its services, Danny said. . "Particularly in West Nusa Tenggara , 41 units of old BTS have been modernized and a base station controller (BSC) has been built. In the regency of Bima a radio network controller (RNC) has been modernized," he added. He said increase in traffic is expected only in festivity centers during the moment of Idul Fitri. "Increase in the traffic will not be even in all areas in Bali and Nusa Tenggara," he said.
