Thai authorities to meet ICAO chief in mid-2015

BANGKOK, April 16 (TNA) - Thai authorities concerned will confer with the United Nations’ International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) chief in Montreal, Canada, in mid-2015, during which Thailand's plans to address ICAO's concerns will be discussed. The Thai authorities, led by Deputy Transport Minister Arkom Termpittayapaisith, who is also Secretary-General of the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB), are scheduled to meet the ICAO chief on June 15. Somchai Piputvat, Director-General of the ministry’s Department of Civil Aviation (DCA), told journalists on Thursday that the Thai delegation will stress on the country's determination to quickly address ICAO's concerns. Somchai said his department will, from now until next month, accelerate addressing the ICAO concerns, covering standards on the issuance of the operating licence for commercial airlines and the management of hazardous cargoes, within 90 days, from March 2015, as required by ICAO.
