THAI aviation services remain unchanged

BANGKOK, April 23 (TNA) - Thai Airways International (THAI), the national flag carrier, says that its aviation services have remained intact, pending a new statement to be issued by the United Nations’ International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) in mid-2015. Acting THAI Board Chair Areepong Bhoocha-oom told journalists of the information on Friday, in response to concerns that Thailand's Department of Civil Aviation (DCA), under the Ministry of Transport, may not pass a re-assessment by ICAO on its certifications of Thai airlines and management of hazardous cargoes. Areepong said, however, that THAI has already discussed with the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) on prepared measures to cope with the situation in case that DCA failed the ICAO's re-assessment. Citing greater competition in the commercial aviation industry over the past 4-5 years amid a global economic slowdown, Areepong acknowledged that THAI has to accelerate its corporate restructuring to cope with the changing situation.
