"Thai brand" products to be promoted on world market

BANGKOK, October 11 (TNA) - The Ministry of Commerce will promote "Thai brand" quality products on the world market to boost Thai exports and national competitiveness, as suggested by new Thai Commerce Minister General Chatchai Sarikulya. General Chatchai gave the policy to his ministry's Department of International Trade Promotion on Friday, when he also ordered the department's officials to find ways to boost Thai exports to grow by at least 5 per cent next year, up from earlier projection of 4 per cent and from this year’s 1.5–2 per cent. General Chatchai also instructed the department's officials to prepare a 10-year offensive strategy to expand Thai exports to oversea markets, especially those niche ones with high purchasing power. Meanwhile, worldwide Thai commercial attaches are scheduled to hold a meeting with the private sector in Bangkok on October 18 and they will then attend a meeting on October 20 to discuss measures to boost Thai exports in 2015, during which the new minister's policies will be presented.
