Thai business operators urged to invest in emerging markets

BANGKOK, April 24 (TNA) - The Board of Investment of Thailand (BOI), under the Ministry of Industry, has suggested that Thai investors relocate their production bases to four emerging markets with potential to link the economies and investment between Central Asia, East Asia and Africa. BOI Deputy Secretary-General Chokedee Kaewsang told journalists that the four emerging markets include Kenya, South Africa, Ethiopia and Uzbekistan, in which Thai business operators are now advised to expand their investment projects, apart from such neighbouring countries as Indonesia, Cambodia, Myanmar and Vietnam. Chokedee said BOI's Thailand Overseas Investment Centre (TOI) has already summarised general information of the four emerging markets in their economic, social, political and legal spheres, as well as trade and investment prospects and even risk factors as basic guidelines for Thai investors who are interested in relocating their investment projects to the selected markets. The BOI deputy chief stressed that Thailand's expanding investment into the four selected emerging economies will help boost economic and investment cooperation between Central Asia, East Asia and Africa in the future.
