Thai chicken exporters urged to build brand

BANGKOK, April 20 (TNA) - Thai exporters of frozen and processed chicken have been urged to build brands as well as improving quality in a bid to widen exports to Japan’s markets, according to Nuntawan Sakuntanaga, director-general of International Trade Promotion Department. Praising Japanese officials in eradicating the recent outbreak of bird flu disease in Japan within two days, Mrs. Nuntawan said the outbreak of the deadly bird flu will automatically cut chicken production in Japan, allowing Thai exporters to boost their exports, she said. However, exporters should be reminded that they ought to build their own brands and improve the quality for Japanese consumers. The Japanese government has lifted the ban and allowed Thailand to resume exporting fresh and processed chicken since last December 25. Mrs. Nuntawan said Australia, for example, has been successful in exporting its ‘Aussie Beef’ to Japan as the brand is now popular among the Japanese consumers. (TNA)
