Thai commercial banks sign updated code of conduct

BANGKOK, March 30 (TNA) -- Fifteen Thai commercial banks sign a revised and updated code of conduct which provides a set of guidelines for banking industry. The members of the Thai Bankers Association (TBA) declared their commitment to the new code of conduct in the signing ceremony on Tuesday. Governor the Bank of Thailand Veerathai Santiprabhob who witnessed the signing said the updated version of the Association’s code of conduct was meant to build public confidence and trust in commercial banks. The code of conduct was based on the principles of integrity, fairness and accountability, he said. The TBA members ought to comply with and push for effectiveness of the code of conduct, said Veerathai. TBA president Predee Daochai said the code of conduct was part of the TBA’s five-year strategy coving five areas of banking, including upgrading banking industry code of conduct In updating the code of conduct which was first arranged in 1994, the TBA wishes to create standards for commercial bank to serve with ethics and ensure fairness for customers.
