Thai DPM to visit Cambodia March 14-17

BANGKOK, March 13 (TNA) - Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak is scheduled to lead a Thai delegation to visit Cambodia during March 14-17, aimed mainly to boost business ties and cooperation between the two neighboring countries. Thai Industry Minister Uttama Savanayana told journalists of the deputy prime minister's scheduled trip to Cambodia on Monday. Uttama said that during the upcoming four-day trip to Cambodia by Deputy Premier Somkid, who oversees economic affairs, Thailand and Cambodia will sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on joint development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and such other major industries as food processing, textile and metal manufacturing. According to the minister, the MOU will be inked between his ministry's Department of Industrial Promotion and Cambodia's Department of SMEs and Village Enterprises Development. The minister revealed that his ministry will also invite Cambodian entrepreneurs to join a training program on the “Genius Academy” as part of business cooperation between Thailand and the so-called CLMV group, comprising Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Vietnam, all are member countries of the ASEAN Community (AC). Besides, the Thai Ministry of Industry will work together with the Thai-Cambodian Business Council to organize a seminar for Cambodian and Thai SMEs on March 15. (TNA)
